SG-3 Resin for High-Flexibility PVC Formulations
Polyvinyl Chloride PVC Resin SG-3 is a general-grade suspension-polymerized PVC resin with CAS No. 9002-86-2. It is supplied as a fine white powder and has a K value of 71–72 with volatile matter not exceeding 0.3%. Compared with SG-5, SG-3 has a higher degree of polymerization and can absorb a larger amount of plasticizer, giving it a clear position in flexible PVC production.
Material Basis for Cable Insulation and Soft Products
- SG-3 is used in wire and cable insulation compounds, soft film, hoses, artificial leather, and high-elasticity flexible PVC products. Its relatively high polymerization level supports toughness and electrical insulation, while its plasticizer absorption capacity makes it suitable for formulations that require a substantial flexible phase.
- For cable insulation, the resin can be combined with plasticizers and stabilizers to build a flexible insulating compound. Artificial leather, hoses, and soft film can use the same resin as a base for formulations that need softness and toughness after processing. In highly elastic PVC products, SG-3 provides a resin structure suited to further plasticization.
